One of my favorite books is On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, by Andrew Peterson. This book follows Janner, Tink, and Leeli Igiby as they find out who they really are. I love the way Peterson makes it fun and enjoyable while still giving it that ‘what will happen next’ feel.

The book starts out (after many introductions) with Janner listening to the black carriage rattling along outside, this part is, admittedly, a little heavy for younger readers, but it certainly sets up the story. The next chapter is much more lighthearted and gives you the feeling of waking up to a bright sunny morning after a bad dream, it is hinted that Janner’s father has left, this however is not the case. For the sake of letting you discover what really happened all that I will say is that the Igiby’s believe that he died in a heroic attempt to save them, from what I cannot disclose. Now after disclosing some of the content of the first two chapters I will proceed to my review of the book in its entirety.

If you are looking for a book with many adventures, excitement, and meaning then this is the book for you! I highly recommend this book to young readers who have been disappointed in this age’s selection of good, morally correct books to read. This is definitely an amazing book to look into, and did I mention that it is the first book in a series? Not only will you have one good book to read but three others to follow after! All keeping with the good morals and intriguing writing style of the first.

I hope you enjoyed reading this review and will consider reading On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness in the near future!

I actually own a hard cover of On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness. I found it….interesting. I really enjoyed the story and the plot, but some things I felt were over the top. Such as the toothy cows. I suppose that was meant to balance the serious tone out a bit, like comedic relief in a movie. The reveal of the location of the lost jewels of Aneria was worth it. Yes, I know I probably spelled that wrong.

Have you read all of the Wingfeather Saga or just the first book? Yeah, I agree it does sometimes feel over the top, but I do think it was needed to balance out the heavy things in the story. I think weather you like it or not is very much based on personal preference. Yes it defiantly was!

I have only read the first one. I saw you read The Green Ember. I read all of the main four books.

Very nice, the rest of the books are good too, although I was somewhat disappointed with the ending of the last one. Yes, I love The Green Ember, especially since I happen to have a rabbit who looks like Picket.
